Tanto Cuore: Romantic Vacation is the second expansion to Tanto Cuore. The game is themed as though you are going on a Pacific island vacation with your maids. It adds a unique gameplay feature: Reminiscence Cards, which are fun vacation memories that you can share with your maids for Victory Points. It does not include Private Maids. Tanto Cuore: Romantic Vacation is a stand-alone game, but it can be combined with Tanto Cuore (Base Game), Tanto Cuore: Expanding the House, or Tanto Cuore: Oktoberfest for greater variety.
Reminiscences are unique, in that players to not spend Love or Employs to obtain them. Instead, each Reminiscence requires a player to discard a specific combination of cards from their hand during their Serving phase. When obtained, Reminiscence cards go directly into a player's Private Quarters, and usually give them a bonus that turn. They are also worth Victory Points.
The following cards are included in Tanto Cuore: Romantic Vacation:
- Love Cards
- 1 Love
- 2 Love
- 3 Love
- Sophia Marfil (Maid Chief )
- Beatrice Escudo (Chambermaid Chief )
- General Maids
- Reminiscence Cards
Printing Editions Edit
In 2015 a 2nd edition reprint was released with larger, updated card text. This was announced on the Oktoberfest Kickstarter. New editions of the game have the red smile Japanime games logo on the box, while older versions have the blue text Japanime games logo.
Comparison to Other SetsEdit
Tanto Cuore: Romantic Vacation is the only set of the three that does not include Private Maids. One could argue that this makes the game more balanced, since one player can no longer purchase a great Private Maid early in the game for a drastic advantage. However, the Reminiscence cards add an element of unpredictability to the game, since they require the player to have a specific assortment of cards in their hand, as opposed to simply generating a certain amount of Love. As with Private Maids, there is a race to acquire good Reminiscence Cards since whenever one is purchased it is no longer available and a new one is drawn to replace it in the Town.
Tanto Cuore Romantic Vacation is probably the best of the three sets to play as a standalone game, due to its unique theme and overall simplicity. However the base game may be a better choice for newcomers, since the Reminiscence mechanic requires additional alertness on the part of the players.
